Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 June 2026

MoneyHive is a personal budgeting service operated by Plannerday Ltd ("Plannerday", "MoneyHive", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over that data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who is the data controller?

Plannerday Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through MoneyHive. Plannerday Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17003359), registered office 13 Old Hall Road, Norwich, United Kingdom, NR13 5FA. Our ICO registration is in progress and the registration number will be published here once complete.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and timezone/locale settings.
  • Budget data you enter: income sources, bills and outgoings, savings pots, reminders, categories, and the amounts and dates you record. This is information you type in yourself — MoneyHive does not connect to your bank and never accesses your bank accounts or transactions.
  • Billing data: subscription status and billing identifiers from our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card details — these are handled by Stripe.
  • Technical data: IP address, device/browser information, and security and audit logs of significant account actions (such as sign-in).

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and operate the MoneyHive service (legal basis: contract).
  • To process your subscription payments (legal basis: contract).
  • To keep accounts secure and detect and prevent abuse (legal basis: legitimate interest).
  • To send service-related communications such as bill and renewal reminders you have set up (legal basis: contract / legitimate interest).
  • To comply with our legal obligations (legal basis: legal obligation).

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data and we never share it with advertisers. We share limited data only with the processors needed to run the service, including Stripe for payment processing and our email provider for transactional and reminder emails. We host the service on infrastructure we control.

5. International transfers

Your data is primarily processed in the United Kingdom. Where any data is transferred outside the UK or EEA (for example by a processor such as Stripe), we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent safeguards.

6. Retention

We retain your account and budget data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example billing records) to meet legal obligations. Full retention periods are set out in our Data Retention Policy.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies only where necessary to run the service. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

8. Marketing

We send you service messages needed to run your account (such as bill reminders you set up, billing notices, and security alerts). We will only send marketing emails if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by emailing [email protected].

9. Automated decision-making

Budget figures and forecasts in MoneyHive are calculated from the data you enter and shown to you for information. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

10. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate data;
  • Request erasure of your data;
  • Export your data in a portable format;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it (such as marketing);
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. You can also contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

11. Security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, never in plain text. Access to production systems is restricted, and we keep audit logs of significant account actions. To report a security concern, email [email protected].

12. Children

MoneyHive is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the service or by email. The "last updated" date above shows when this policy was last revised.
